Remembering Together Dumfries and Galloway is coming to a close
Four hundred trees, now known as the Dispersed Memorial Forest, have been planted across Dumfries and Galloway. Each of the five forest locations incorporates seating and crafted markers, and a series of community gathering events were held during the summer of 2024 to mark the memorial forest opening. Artists t s Beall and Katie Anderson worked with Tree Surv and Remembering Together partners DG Unlimited and Dumfries and Galloway Council to create special places where communities can remember loved ones and reflect on their experiences of the pandemic.
The Dispersed Memorial Forest locations are:
Moffat (Community Nature Reserve)
Castle Douglas (NTS Thrieve Nature Reserve)
Sat 6th April (Bells Crescent Park)
Stranraer (Galloway Community Hospital)
Dumfries (The Crichton and NHS Mountainhall)
