Welcome to East Ayrshire

The East Ayrshire local authority area spans Stewarton and Dunlop in the north to Dalmellington and Muirkirk in the south and west. The region comprises both rural and urban settings, with a significant proportion of the population resident in the principal town of Kilmarnock and its surroundings. 

East Ayrshire has been identified as one of the most deprived areas relative to Scotland as a whole, with high instances of alcohol and drug abuse and the attendant heath and social consequences.  

In terms of the Covid, East Ayrshire has been among the worst affected regions in Scotland and while the situation has improved considerably, a recent spike in cases has reminded us that the pandemic continues to be of serious concern.
