Rising Strong - North Ayrshire

Rising Strong is an art installation situated in Ardrossan Garden of Remembrance. It has been curated by Journey of Hope, a social enterprise that seeks to see transformation through Art, Heritage and Culture in Saltcoats, Stevenston & Ardrossan.

Rising Strong is both a memorial to those who died in the Coronavirus pandemic and a tool for greater wellbeing. Taking its name from the work of author Casandra Brene Brown, the installation is linked to a website which resources people to overcome grief, build resilience and become more mindful through breathing.

'This memorial links people up. By necessity our response to COVID-19 was to isolate leaving many people feeling that they were facing their grief and loss alone. We know that connection and identification with others is part of the grief healing process. Rising Strong provides a way to do that.'
